"Since the conference was held, it has been well received by the participants for sharing innovative techniques in the field of cardiac arrhythmia, with the highlights of practicality, precision and thoroughness. This year's conference will continue to break new ground, with the theme of "New Originality in China", aiming to focus on new theories, new concepts, new techniques, and new strategies, which were originally created by Chinese clinicians. The conference invites renowned experts of cardiac electrophysiology to come together to exchange and learn, as well as to engage in multi-level, multi-angle and comprehensive academic exchanges. The major operators from famous medical centers in China are also invited to share their valuable practical experiences and discuss in depth for atrial fibrillation, special supraventricular tachycardia, atrial tachycardia and ventricular tachycardia." This was the highlight of this year's conference presented by the current chairman, Prof. Yan Yao of Fu Wai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, at the opening ceremony of the 6th Asia Cardiac Arrhythmia Summit and 3rd China Cardiac Arrhythmia Summit (ACAS & CCAS 2021) held in Xi'an on October 17, 2021.

The conference was organized by the Asia Heart Rhythm Association (AHRA) and hosted by the Beijing Ivy Medical Expert League. Prof. Tom Wong, the top electrophysiologist at the forefront of international academia, Prof. Changsheng Ma, Director of Arrhythmia Center of Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Capital Medical University, and Prof. Yan Yao, Director of Arrhythmia Center of Fu Wai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, expressed their hopes for the conference through the opening promo of the conference.
Focusing on innovation-driven strategy and promoting the transformation of medical achievements
In order to further implement the national innovation-driven strategy and focus on promoting the transformation of medical achievements, Prof. Yao said, "A total of four special sessions on "New Originality in China" have been set for this year's conference, inviting dedicated, enterprising, front-line young and middle-aged clinicians to share their latest innovative achievements in the field of cardiac arrhythmias." Regarding the lecture topic setting, Prof. Yao introduced, "It mainly originates from the original Chinese-led research published in the top international journals of cardiovascular. The aim is to let clinicians know that more and more original and even disruptive technologies are emerging in China! This is what the conference always advocates and encourages, and can truly be a window for everyone to understand the state of medical development in China and to be able to dialogue with the world, ultimately improving the scientific research and clinical treatment level of Chinese clinicians."
Finding success in failure
In the field of science, everything is in constant change, the universality breeds the particularity, and the particularity originates from the universality. For this reason, we have endeavored to build an academic panel - the Complications Session - with the aim of sharing the joy of successful clinical treatment cases, accepting the lessons of failure, enlightening and learning from participants' clinical experiences, and avoiding the occurrence of adverse events on this platform. It can be said that the special session on complications is the most valuable academic panel of the conference. According to Prof. Yao, "In fact, it is not only the successful experiences that can guide and enlighten people, but also the faults and lessons can remind people, and sometimes the lessons can even educate people more than the successful experiences, because the lessons often bring out the real hazards and remind people of that ‘the overturned cart ahead is a warning to the carts behind’. CCAS is the first academic conference in China to discuss the complications, and although it is true that complications is a pain point that no one wants to touch, but I am glad that more and more people are able to look at this issue objectively and rationally, and frankly present each case for full communication and discussion. I believe that only by consistently conducting special sessions on complications, the quality of clinical work will be improved in the future, and the recurrence of complications will be reduced, and better services can be provided to patients. "
Creating an integrated model of industry-academia-research to facilitate the sustainable development of arrhythmology in China
"Innovation and empowerment" will be the most valuable method to provide new diagnostic and therapeutic means in the clinical treatment that clinicians cannot do, and the research and innovation of medical equipment can effectively accelerate the promotion and application of new technologies, therefore the special session of "Heart Original Industry-University-Research Project Launch" was set in the conference. Prof. Yao expressed his hope to see that more and more Chinese domestic enterprises innovate on their own and join hands with professional doctors to develop more high-quality and safe products, and go out of the country to benefit more patients.
Gathering the strength of female physicians to be the brightest star
As the most beautiful scenery, Beauty in EP which was set for four years once again provided a stage for many excellent female electrophysiologists to communicate and grow together.
In the opening ceremony, Prof. Yao emphasized that "the 'green electrophysiology' radiofrequency ablation which is safe and low radiation could treat patients more precisely with lower radiation, reducing the dependence on radiation in traditional operation and protecting doctors and patients from the effects of radiation. Therefore, women can play an important role in the field of cardiac electrophysiology intervention with their unique delicate, serious and persistent spirit. We hope that we can grow together and move forward together, so as to unite the strength of female electrophysiologists in China and become the brightest star. "
At the meeting, Prof. Yumei Xue of Guangzhou Provincial People's Hospital and Prof. Lihui Zheng of Fu Wai Hospital as the main preparatory leaders, expressed their hope that medical colleagues should pay more attention to and support the growth of female electrophysiologists, provide them with more opportunities and offer better development prospect, so as to better mobilize the enthusiasm of female physicians, balance the relationship between family and career, and promote exchanges and cooperation at home and abroad. In the conference, there is the stage for female electrophysiologists, where we can share the difficult and hot spots of the electrophysiology with each other, and make progress together to climb the academic peak.
Combining theory and practice to enhance dual training
At present, radiofrequency ablation of cardiac arrhythmia has undergone many years of development, and a certain procedural consensus has been formed in the management of typical and simple arrhythmia cases, but under the general trend of precision medicine, all operators do not stop exploring and researching the methods of treatment, especially when it comes to complex arrhythmias, different operators have different methods, and, moreover, there is no absolute right or wrong.
In particular, we explored the rules and techniques of solving problems through discussing more clinical cases, so that we can be more calmly when we encounter similar problems in the future. At the same time, we also added a septal puncture simulator and catheter operation practice session to ensure the understanding and the diversity of the training contents.
Finally, Prof. Yao said in the closing ceremony that "In this year, the conference inherits the excellent style and successful model of previous sessions, and I believe that through the requirement of organizing committee that all speakers must share their experiences, innovations and lessons learned, every participant will be able to gain something and return with a full load. The way was long, and wrapped in gloom did seem, as I urged on to seek my vanished dream. In the conference, through sharing and discussion, we learn from each other and grow together. Today, ACAS & CCAS are working together with Xi’an to forge ahead and chase our dreams, and we look forward to meeting again next year to share the academic feast!
